Rai Bahadur Srinath palace is located in the Village of Sheikh Nagar in Sirajdikhan uoazila of Munshiganj district, which is about two hundred years old. Roy Bahadur Srinath Roy’s house in the Village of Chhaya sunibir near the Sheikernagar Raybahadur Institution of the banks of the Ichhamati River seems to be Passing thought various unknown stories of history and tradition. The two – Story bulding of the square shaped Roy house is 40 feet long and 20 feet wide. On the north, west and south sides of the two storey bulding there are 3 more one story building 20 feet long and 15 feet wide.
There are two ponds of Shanbadhano Ghat on the east and south side of Roy Bahadur srinath Roy’s house. Srinath Roy, one of the most generous and wealthy people of munshiganj, was conferrred the titles of ‘ Raja’ and ‘ Raj Bahadur’ by the British rulers. Lord Carmichael, the first governor of Bengal, arrived at the house of Roy Bahadur Srinath Roy on 21 Shravan 1322 BS to inaugurate a charity hospital. During the partition of the country in 1947, all the members of Raja Srinath Roy’s family migrated to Calcutta.
How to go:
The distance from Dhaka to Munshiganj by road is only 23 kilometers. Munshiganj can be reached by Mawagami bus from Gulistan. Abdullapur or Mirpur in Dhaka. If you want you can go to Munshiganj from Dhaka’s Sadar Ghat launch terminal. From Munshiganj district headquarters you can reach Sirajdikhan upazila by bus and from there you can take a rickshaw to Roy Bahadur Srinath Roy’s house.
