Chittagong Zoo
The Chittagong Zoo was built in 1989 in a forested forest enclosed by the foothills. The zoo started its journey on 16 acres of land with 18 animals of four species namely monkey, lion, deer and Hanuman.

History
In 1976, MA Mannan, the then Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong, and other elites of Chittagong initially took initiative to set up a zoo on Fayez Lake for recreation, education and research. The zoo was later opened to the public on February 26, 1989. Initially, there was only one ticket to enter the zoo and Fais Lake, but in 1995, considering the convenience of visitors as well as additional benefits, the zoo authorities arranged for entry through two separate gates at separate gates. At the time of the zoo's inauguration in 1979, the ticket price was Rs. Later the ticket price was increased to Tk. Thus, with the increase in the number of animals and birds, the ticket price also increases. At present the price of each ticket is 30 rupees.

Animals
At present the zoo has more than three hundred and fifty animals of 72 species; Of which 30 species of mammals, 36 species of birds and 4 species of reptiles. Currently the mammals at the zoo include the Royal Bengal Tiger, Indian Lion, Asian Black Bear, African Zebra, Maya Deer, Chitra Deer, Sambar Deer, Para Deer, Mukhpora Hanuman, Ape, Rhesus Monkey, Ulto Lazy Monkey, Bison. Cheetahs, gandhagokuls (Himalayan), tigers, hyenas, rabbits, hedgehogs, foxes, etc.

Among the different species of birds in the zoo are partridge, peacock, king cormorant, crow cormorant, vulture, madantak, white buck, nishi buck, tilaghughu, bhuvan chil, kokil, moyna, khanjana bird, turkey hen. Recently, a mini aviary was constructed at Chittagong Zoo for the visitors at a cost of Rs. 34 lakhs. The 60-foot-long and 25-foot-wide aviary is home to 342 exotic birds of six species. These include Love Bird, Laughing Dove, Pheasant Pigeon, Ring Ned Parrot, Cocktail and Macaw. Among the reptiles in the zoo are pythons, freshwater crocodiles and tortoises. There are plans to bring kangaroos and ostriches to the zoo in the near future.

It is located on the opposite side of Fay's Lake.

Buses or autorickshaws can be used to reach the place of interest.

Open-close schedule
Chittagong Zoo is open to visitors every day from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm.
